Clear Gelcoats & Coloured Gelcoats (Ortho, ISO, ISO NPG, VE)
Product Description
Gelcoat is a material used to provide a high-quality finishing on the visible surface of a fibre-reinforced composite parts. The most common gelcoats are thermosetting polymers based on epoxy or unsaturated polyester resin chemistry. Gelcoats are modified resins which are applied to moulds in the liquid state. They are cured to form crosslinked polymers and are subsequently backed with thermoset polymer matrix composites which are often mixtures of polyester resin and fiberglass.
This is usually pigmented to provide a colored, glossy surface which improves the aesthetic appearance of the article, such as the surface of a boat hull.
Many boats and construction parts using composite materials with an outer layer of gelcoat, typically 0.5 mm to 0.8 mm (0.02 in to 0.03 in) thick. Gelcoats are designed to be durable, providing resistance to ultraviolet degradation and hydrolysis.
Ortho Gelcoats
Ortho gelcoats can be used in applications where special chemical resistance or weathering resistance is not required. Designed for general FRP coating on water / sewage tanks & panel, automotive parts, bumper, furnitures, table, dust bin, flower pot and etc.
ISO Gelcoats
ISO gelcoats can be used in applications where chemical resistant and weatherability property is needed. Designed for shower tray, sanitary ware, sewage tanks & panel, automotive parts, and etc.
ISO NPG Gelcoats
This ISO NPG Glecoat have characteristics of flexible, easy application, good resistance to long immersion in water (blister resistant), good weatherability (low yellowing and good gloss retention) and good mechanical properties. Designed for boat building industries, fishing boat, speed boat, sanitary ware, bathtub, sewage tanks, swimming pools, water tanks and etc.
VE Gelcoats And Tooling Gelcoats
VE gelcoats can be used to manufacture the moulds which in turn are used to manufacture components. These require very high levels of durability to overcome the mechanical and thermal stresses encountered during the curing and demoulding processes.
Coloured Gelcoats
Color finished part production requires the incorporation of different pigment pastes for coloring. Adding of these pigment pastes in workshop conditions may cause some variations while weighing the correct amount of color, viscosity-gel time changes. These problems may result in defects on finished products. Colored gelcoats can eliminate these problems and help customers get better results in production. Chemitone offers in-house colored gelcoats produced according to our Pigment Paste Color Chart, our primary color, and customers’ specific color needs in RAL, Pantone, Australia Standard, BS Standard and NCS colors. Coloring of these gelcoats are formulated according to finished part performance needs regarding UV resistance, heavy metal content and chlorine resistance.
